CONTEMPORARY ARTS |
198 Contemporary Arts mission is to advance public interest in the visual arts, as well as nurture and support the career of emerging, under-represented artists.
Our programme of exhibitions and events investigates the culturally hybrid nature of our constantly evolving society, and embraces the diversity of individuals which make-up cosmopolitan cities such as London. Notions of globalisation, culture, identity and the post-colonial are central to our curatorial approach to exhibiting and promoting international and British artists. We seek artistic excellence, and are committed to delivering critical exhibitions and events, which foster the debate around topical political and social issues.
On average, 198 produces 5 exhibitions each year, showcasing the work of over 25 artists to 12000 visitors. The Gallery, which is free to the public, is opened 5 days a week.
