Critical Contemplations: White Noise, Black Voices

Sunday 20th November 2016, 18:00pm – 21:00pm

If whiteness is somewhere between nowhere and everywhere, how does one combat its ghost?

Presented by Goldsmiths MFA students, White Noise, Black Voices is a performative response to a series of workshops with Barby Asante. Bringing together a variety of references, from YouTube clips, to recorded sound the work explore ideas of space, place and identity focusing on alternative references and strategies for creative resistance to negate the White Noise in the production of cultural, social and political spaces andnarratives. The performance will be followed by a discussion about the work.

Critical Contemplations is born out of our Possible Futures programme and is a new programme of dialogues, experiments and gatherings, creating space for artists, thinkers, curators, writers, whoever to share projects and ideas in our space related to arts, culture, community and politics.
